Something about the new style makes it much less readable. I don't know if it's the font? Do we have any control over these things? So far I don't like the change.
Give it more than a minute. I am continuing to hone it. Feel free to return to the old style till end of the year.

Edit: OK, now I've found it. You need to scroll down toward the bottom of the opening page.
There is also a "browse by field" jump link at the top

Unread items in the "Alerts" list are no longer quickly distinguishable by background shade from read items, as they differ only very slightly in a shade of something like beige, although they now have a spot on them which I presume is also an indication of unread.

I put it back to the old style for myself.
I've done the same. One further comment to add to the ones I've already made: to me the new style looks drab. The old one has some color. The new one is just not as pleasant for me to look at.

Have people tried night mode? I like that better than the day mode (the same was true with the old style).

Again, it's a setting in preferences to follow your system setting or always use light/dark mode.

This should be fixed now, thanks

Unfortunately I can't stand night mode (or the "dark" as opposed to "light" theme setting), not just for this site, but in general.

One other thing - I had an instance of a "bouncing" window when editing. I've seen this before and I think somebody reported this a while ago and it got fixed, but it's back.

Sometimes (not always), when I'm editing a post, the window starts bouncing - type one character and the whole page jumps somewhere else, type the next and it jumps back, repeat. It happened to me on the Olber's Paradox thread - Peter posted #38 while I was editing #39 and I think that's when it started.

Apologies for the vague report. Perhaps you remember the issue and can fix it. If not, and if it recurs, I'll pay a bit more attention.

Is it impossible (or perhaps too much work) to make people choose their own font?

EDIT: At least from a predefined bunch of choices...?

EDIT2: I could implement this on my site, but I'd imagine your site is several thousands lines of code by now.

I think this is due to the editor auto grow. I applied a fix. Let me know if that helps. Keep em coming!

It's not really feasible because element spacing is calibrated off the font attributes and there are resource loading considerations. Let's try to tweak as much as we can with what we have now.

The font seems significantly smaller to these old eyes. Did it get smaller, or am I just imagining things?
You know that at least on Windows you can press Ctrl++ and Ctrl+- to zoom in and out right?
EDIT: Sorry: Ctrl+, and Ctrl-.

I don't know how to reproduce it so I don't know if you've fixed it, but thanks. I'll let you know if it happens again - hopefully not!

I still like the website front though. Font or no.

It's a good reminder to check your zoom level because often I am at 80%.
It's almost always in the one of the settings options (no matter what browser). It will show you what percentage you're currently at.

It's fine. A bit prettier than the old style and, of course, I thought I had wandered into the wrong place when I first saw it. It has an open, optimistic quality; well done.
For me, still cannot say if agree or disagree; or like or not like. Only usage and adjustment time for my own reaction.

Change is almost always a little unwelcome. We're creatures of habit. But PF, like any other brand, has to reinvent itself from time to time. Not everyone will like it, let's hope very few will hate it.

The top line of links is good and looks like the previous styling.

Just below that top line of links is a "Latest Activity" listing. I is distracting because we need to scroll to see the complete list of forums or subforums. If possible this "Latest Activity" listing would be better if it is presented in a collapsed but expandable form; so we can more quickly see and find the structure of the main forums and subforums.

I am getting more used to it. One minor request would be to have to forum name bolded so it stands out a bit more on the active posts that proceed the forum name.
