Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the exploration of future technologies, specifically invisibility and quantum teleportation. Participants inquire about the availability of peer-reviewed resources that address predictions related to these technologies, considering the subjective nature of such forecasts.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant expresses interest in finding peer-reviewed journals or resources that cover future technology predictions, questioning the validity of such predictions given their subjective nature.
  • Another participant notes that many scientific papers include statements about future applications of their subjects, suggesting that some research does touch on future possibilities.
  • A further contribution mentions specific predictions regarding invisibility and quantum teleportation, citing claims that 3D objects could become invisible within two decades and that human teleportation might be possible by the end of this century.
  • One participant challenges the feasibility of finding credible peer-reviewed research on these topics, highlighting the difficulty of distinguishing genuine research from less credible sources.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on the existence or accessibility of peer-reviewed resources related to future technology predictions. There are differing views on the reliability and validity of such predictions.

Contextual Notes

The discussion reflects uncertainty regarding the availability of peer-reviewed literature specifically focused on future technologies, as well as the subjective nature of predictions in scientific discourse.

Who May Find This Useful

Individuals interested in the intersection of physics and future technology, particularly those researching invisibility and quantum teleportation, may find this discussion relevant.

I have recently read some articles that deal with future technologies such as invisibility and teleportation. There are some magazines, websites and scientists such as Micho Kaku who make future predictions based on the latest cutting-edge technologies and scientific data.

My question is this. Does anyone know of any peer-reviewed journals, magazines, websites that cover future technology predictions? I assume peer-review was designed to correct weaknesses and errors in the work and performance of papers that primarily deal with hard science, not predictions, which are subjective. Regardless, can someone help me with what I am looking for?

Thank you!

Many papers contain some statement of future possibilities of an application of the paper's subject.

I am interested in invisibility and quantum teleportation in specific. Many scientists say we will be able to turn 3D objects in visible light invisible in two decades time. As for QT they say in the next few centuries, some say the end of this century. As in they will be able to teleport humans.

Where would I go to find peer-review on things of this nature? Do they even exist?

I don't know- look for yourself. The challenge will be filtering out the genuine research from the crackpots.
