Physics bases future technologies

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the search for peer-reviewed journals and resources that focus on future technology predictions, particularly in the areas of invisibility and quantum teleportation. The inquiry highlights the challenge of finding credible sources, as many predictions are subjective and not typically the focus of peer-reviewed research. The conversation acknowledges that while many scientific papers include statements about future applications, the existence of dedicated peer-reviewed literature on speculative technologies is uncertain. Participants note the importance of distinguishing genuine research from less credible claims, emphasizing the need for careful evaluation of sources. The potential for invisibility technology to become viable in the next two decades and the possibility of human teleportation by the end of this century are mentioned as key areas of interest.

I have recently read some articles that deal with future technologies such as invisibility and teleportation. There are some magazines, websites and scientists such as Micho Kaku who make future predictions based on the latest cutting-edge technologies and scientific data.

My question is this. Does anyone know of any peer-reviewed journals, magazines, websites that cover future technology predictions? I assume peer-review was designed to correct weaknesses and errors in the work and performance of papers that primarily deal with hard science, not predictions, which are subjective. Regardless, can someone help me with what I am looking for?

Thank you!

Many papers contain some statement of future possibilities of an application of the paper's subject.

I am interested in invisibility and quantum teleportation in specific. Many scientists say we will be able to turn 3D objects in visible light invisible in two decades time. As for QT they say in the next few centuries, some say the end of this century. As in they will be able to teleport humans.

Where would I go to find peer-review on things of this nature? Do they even exist?

I don't know- look for yourself. The challenge will be filtering out the genuine research from the crackpots.

Just ONCE, I wanted to see a post titled Status Update that was not a blatant, annoying spam post by a new member. So here it is. Today was a good day here in Northern Wisconsin. Fall colors are here, no mosquitos, no deer flies, and mild temperature, so my morning run was unusually nice. Only two meetings today, and both went well. The deer that was road killed just down the road two weeks ago is now fully decomposed, so no more smell. Somebody has a spike buck skull for their...
Thread 'In the early days of electricity, they didn't have wall plugs'
Hello scientists, engineers, etc. I have not had any questions for you recently, so have not participated here. I was scanning some material and ran across these 2 ads. I had posted them at another forum, and I thought you may be interested in them as well. History is fascinating stuff! Some houses may have had plugs, but many homes just screwed the appliance into the light socket overhead. Does anyone know when electric wall plugs were in widespread use? 1906 ad DDTJRAC Even big...
