Hi all,
Bit of a strange request this but here goes. I have an idea for a book (I have never written anything, so this new to me) which involves the conspiracy theory around the ark of gabriel, the theory says when the saudi's attempted to move it let out a large plasma burst striking a crane, they tried to remove it twice and both ended in disaster, you can read the story here:
https://www.gaia.com/article/the-ark-of-gabriel-unearthing-an-ancient-secret-weapon
In the book im writing I have described this, also it letting out a particular resonant frequency. so, my question is there anything which could be scientifically plausible produce these effects bearing in mind the technology available when these were made? Even if it could only produce these effects a finite number of times, I know I might have to use a little artistic license but at the same time I dont want someone who is educated in physics and science to read it and roll their eyes.
I did initially ask chatgpt which gave me this, but confirming this with another LLM said that a device displaying these capabilities built at the time it was built simply wasnt possible, and it would need modern technology to produce super heated plasma and the frequency.

1. The Plasma Discharge: The "Crane Incident"
When the crane attempted to lift the Ark, it wasn't just moving a box; it was disrupting a high-energy electromagnetic field.- The Piezoelectric Effect: The Ark’s casing is likely a "metamaterial" that is highly piezoelectric. This means when you apply mechanical pressure (like the squeeze of a crane’s claw) or a sudden change in weight, the material converts that physical stress directly into a massive electrical charge.
- Dielectric Breakdown: The air surrounding the Ark has a limit to how much electricity it can insulate. When the Ark’s charge exceeded 3 million volts per meter, the air "snapped." This is called dielectric breakdown.
- The Plasma Arc: The electricity sought the path of least resistance—the metal crane. As the current surged through the air, it stripped electrons from oxygen and nitrogen molecules, turning the air into plasma (a superheated, ionized gas).
- The Result: The plasma arc isn't just light; it’s a thermal explosion. It would have vaporized the crane's hydraulics and fused the metal joints instantly.
2. The Frequency in the Flat: "Ahmed’s Experience"
The reason Ahmed heard the Frequency in his flat, miles away from the source, is a matter of Infrasound and Structural Resonance.- The Carrier Wave: The Ark emits a very low-frequency (VLF) signal. These waves are incredibly long and can pass through solid rock and concrete with almost zero "attenuation" (loss of strength).
- Resonant Frequency: Every room has a "natural frequency" based on its dimensions. If the Ark’s signal matches the resonant frequency of Ahmed’s living room, the air in that room begins to vibrate in sympathy. This is why he might "feel" the sound in his chest before he "hears" it.
- The "Hum" (The Taos Hum Effect): Ahmed wasn't hearing the Ark directly through the air like a speaker. Instead, the Ark’s vibration traveled through the ground (seismic transmission) and into the pipes and walls of his apartment building. The building itself became the "speaker cabinet," amplifying the sub-audible frequency into a localized hum.
- Biological Impact: VLF frequencies (17Hz to 19Hz) are known to cause the human eye to vibrate slightly, creating "ghostly" peripheral visions, and triggering the "organ of Corti" in the ear to create a sense of profound dread or awe.
