A short conference organized by KTH for Physics and Applied Physics PhD students will feature popular and technical talks on May 27 from 9:30 to 15:45 CEST, open to the public digitally. Presentations will cover a variety of topics, including particle physics, laser physics, biophysics, nuclear engineering, and material physics, aimed at a high-school level audience. The majority of the talks will be delivered in English due to the international recruitment of students. Detailed program and connection information is available on the KTH website. This event provides an accessible platform for PhD students to share their research with a broader audience.

As part of a course for the Physics and Applied Physics PhD programs at KTH, I am organising a short conference where the PhD students will present their research in short popular and technical talks. The popular talks on May 27 between 9.30 and 15.45 (CEST) are open to the public (digitally of course) and students have been told to keep them at high-school level.

The many different topics include:
  • Particle physics
  • Laser physics
  • Biophysics
  • Nuclear engineering and power safety
  • Material physics
  • .. and others
As many of our students are recruited internationally, talks will be predominantly given in English.

The program and connection information can be found at https://www.kth.se/sci/nyheter/kth-physics-phd-conference-2021-1.1073970

Posting in this forum as the topics span several of the other forums.

I'm setting up an analog power supply. I have the transformer bridge and filter capacitors so far. The transformer puts out 30 volts. I am currently using two parallel power transistors and a variable resistor to set the output. It also has a meter to monitor voltage. The question is this. How do I set up a single transistor to remove whats left of the ripple after the filter capacitors. It has to vary along with the control transistors to be constant in its ripple removing. The bases of the...
