SUMMARY

The discussion centers around a questionnaire created by Pascal for a history of mathematics EPQ project. The questionnaire aims to gather insights from mathematicians, specifically targeting individuals who have studied mathematics beyond A-level, including teachers and students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It consists of four questions designed to rank the top five mathematical topics that are most significant to modern mathematics. Pascal encourages participation and offers assistance for any issues related to the questionnaire link.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of mathematical history and its significance.
  • Familiarity with questionnaire design and data collection methods.
  • Knowledge of the target demographic, specifically mathematicians and educators.
  • Basic skills in online survey distribution and response analysis.
NEXT STEPS
  • Research effective questionnaire design techniques for academic projects.
  • Explore methods for analyzing qualitative data from survey responses.
  • Learn about the historical impact of key mathematical developments before 1900.
  • Investigate strategies for engaging and recruiting participants for academic surveys.
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for students conducting research in mathematics, educators looking to understand historical developments in the field, and anyone interested in designing effective surveys for academic purposes.

Hi,
I'm doing a history of Maths related EPQ. I've written a questionnaire to collect data I need for the project; all I need now are people to answer it. It's only 4 questions long so it shouldn't take more than 5 mins. The link is below.

Mathematical Developments before 1900 - Project Research

My target demographic is mathematicians, so pretty much anyone who's studied maths beyond A-level and has a good overall knowledge of the subject; so maths teachers, undergraduates, postgraduates etc.
I'd be really grateful for any responses; it's a great help.
Feel free to ask any questions, especially if there's a problem with the link or questionnaire.
Thanks,
Pascal

Out of the list of mathematical topics and sub-topics below, rank the top 5 most important to modern mathematics?
This sentence does not require a question mark.

Tick the following numeral representations that would have been able to recognize
"You" is probably omitted.

Thanks for pointing those typos out, I've just corrected them. Can't believe I didn't spot them when I read it through.
