The discussion highlights Teri Garr's notable performances, particularly in "Young Frankenstein" and her role in the "Star Trek" episode "Assignment Earth," where she portrayed a quirky secretary. The conversation touches on the innovative typewriter in the episode, which foreshadowed modern voice transcription technology. There was potential for a spin-off series featuring Garr and Robert Lansing, but it ultimately did not receive enough support. The dialogue also references Garr's roles in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and "Oh God," where she played a skeptical wife, indicating a recurring theme in her characters. Additionally, there are mixed feelings about her portrayal of UFO witnesses and individuals claiming divine encounters.

I liked her in the Star Trek Gary Seven episode "Assignment Earth", where she played a brilliant but ditzy secretary.

She was overwhelmed by Gary Seven's typewriter that typed what you spoke, something reasonably familiar now with our phone transcription features.

Gary Seven was supposed to be a spin-off series. Teri likely would have starred in it with Robert Lansing, but I guess there wasn't enough studio or television support for a secret agent from the future coming back to keep the Earth on track.

The wiki article hints at his real mission to keep Khan in check.

I always had a crush on Garr.

But I didn't like the way she treated UFO witnesses or guys who met God.

PS Close Encounters and Oh God. She played the doubting wife in both.

To some degree, this thread is inspired by PF user erobz's thread "Why do we spend so much time learning grammar in the public school system?" That's why I made a title to this thread that paralleled the title of erobz's thread. I totally disagree with erobz. I created this thread because the curriculum of grammar at Universities is a totally distinct topic from the topic of the curriculum of grammar in public schools.
