Rayleigh distribution + proof of properties

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the Rayleigh distribution and the feasibility of manually proving its properties, including mean, variance, and standard deviation. The participant confirms that it is indeed possible to derive these properties by hand. Specific mathematical techniques and steps for the proof were not detailed in the initial post but are expected to follow in subsequent contributions.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of probability distributions, specifically the Rayleigh distribution.
  • Knowledge of statistical concepts such as mean, variance, and standard deviation.
  • Familiarity with calculus, particularly integration techniques.
  • Basic skills in mathematical proof techniques.
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the derivation of the mean and variance of the Rayleigh distribution.
  • Study integration techniques used in probability theory.
  • Explore mathematical proof strategies in statistics.
  • Learn about applications of the Rayleigh distribution in engineering and physics.
USEFUL FOR

Statisticians, mathematicians, and students studying probability theory who are interested in understanding the Rayleigh distribution and its properties.

Is it possible to prove the properties of the rayleigh distribution (e.g. mean, variance, std. dev) by hand ?

Don't worry, I figured out for myself it is possible

I will post my approach shortly
