AI Thread Summary
To record the sound of a guitar into a computer or CD, connect a guitar amplifier's line out to the line in of the sound card. Use any sound recording software, including the basic program provided by Microsoft with Windows. For those without a guitar amp or using an acoustic guitar, a microphone is necessary to capture the sound, which can then be connected to the computer in the same manner.

If you have a guitar amp that has a line out, you can just hook it up to the line in of your sound card and then use any sound recorder program, even the one micrsoft bundles with windows.

If you don't have these facilities or you are using an acoustic guitar, then you'll have to buy yourself a mike and then do what was mentioned above.
