SUMMARY

Basil Hiley, a prominent figure in Bohmian mechanics and a close collaborator of David Bohm, passed away recently. He was scheduled to host an event on Bohm's work next month, highlighting his significant contributions to the field of quantum mechanics. Hiley gained recognition for his insights shared during a BBC In Our Time episode alongside Roger Penrose, where they discussed various interpretations of quantum mechanics. His legacy is expected to inspire further exploration of his work in the scientific community.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Bohmian mechanics
  • Familiarity with quantum mechanics interpretations
  • Knowledge of David Bohm's contributions to physics
  • Experience with academic discussions in theoretical physics
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the implications of Bohmian mechanics in modern physics
  • Explore David Bohm's theories and their impact on quantum mechanics
  • Listen to the BBC In Our Time episode featuring Basil Hiley and Roger Penrose
  • Investigate the current state of research inspired by Hiley's work
USEFUL FOR

Physicists, students of quantum mechanics, and anyone interested in the historical context and developments in Bohmian mechanics will benefit from this discussion.

I was just skimming some reading on Bohmian mechanics and for some reason decided to check on Basil Hiley. He was co-author and close friend of Bohm. I just noticed he died a couple of weeks ago. He was supposed to hosting some event on Bohm's next month. Quite champion of the field. Hopefully some other users might explore the importance of his work. I remember hearing from him first in BBC In Our Time discussing interpretations on quantum mechanics with Penrose, here it is:

What?

Edit: I do not know how I did not notice such a ruler in the photo.

Probably in a prop department.
