I have for class a research design of Nurse Practitioners, who have had clinical experience of 2 years or more with those, who have less than 1 year to determine if there is a difference in patient outcomes with those, who have diabetes and those, who have hypertension. IF I use an alpha level of 0.5 and a power of .8, how do I determine the sample size?

First trick I learned this one a long time ago and have used it to entertain and amuse young kids. Ask your friend to write down a three-digit number without showing it to you.
