Solving Problems in Quantum Mechanics, Stat Mech & Atomic Physics

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around recommendations for books that include solved problems in quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, and atomic physics. Participants are seeking alternatives to the LIM series and exploring various resources available for problem-solving in these fields.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant inquires about good books similar to the LIM series that contain solved problems in quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, and atomic physics.
  • Another participant suggests using the search function on Amazon as a potential resource for finding such books.
  • A third participant expresses frustration at the initial inquiry, questioning why they should assist if the asker has not attempted to search for the information themselves.
  • Several problem books are mentioned, including works by Krotov, Irodov, Saraeva, and Kosel, as well as "A Guide to Physics Problems," with a note that these vary in difficulty and type of problems.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

There is no consensus on a specific book recommendation, and participants express differing levels of willingness to assist in finding resources.

Contextual Notes

Participants' responses reflect varying assumptions about the effort required to find resources and the expectations of assistance in the discussion.

Are there any other good books such as LIM series which include solved problems on QM,Stat Mech & atomic physics ?

yes, have you tried to use the search function on amazon? :)

a straightforward ans will be of better help...WHY? should I have to do the job for you? I asked if you have tried to search for it, otherwise I could show you!

can you give me advice on this thread : https://www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=399949

There are many problem books:

Krotov, Irodov, Saraeva, Kosel: each of these authors wrote a problem book.
Also "A Guide to Physics Problems" is a very nice book.

They vary in difficulty and type of problems.
