Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the reasons why certain seat row numbers are missing on flights, including specific numbers like 13, 18, 19, 20, 21, 32, 33, and 42. Participants explore the implications of standardization across different aircraft models and the significance of exit rows.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Technical explanation
  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants suggest that certain rows are standardized across the fleet, with specific numbers like 20 and 21 designated as exit rows, while 11 is always the first row in economy.
  • Others mention that having consistent row numbers across different aircraft models helps airlines when swapping planes.
  • A participant expresses difficulty in finding information online, indicating that their search did not yield satisfactory results beyond the omission of row 13.
  • One participant emphasizes the importance of standardization in assigning seat numbers on airplanes.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree that standardization is a key reason for missing row numbers, but the specific reasons for the omission of certain numbers like 18 and 19 remain less clear and are contested.

Contextual Notes

Some assumptions about the reasons for missing row numbers are not fully explored, and the discussion does not resolve the specific rationale for each omitted number.

Why some row numbers like 13 ( know the reason of unlucky number), 18, 19, 20, 21, 32, 33 and 42 are missing on flights?

So that certain rows are standardized across the fleet - e..g. 20 and 21 are always exit rows, or that 11 is always the first row in economy.

This took Google less than a second to find.

I used google but was not able to find the answers. Maybe I don't know the correct keyword. I typed "Why certain rows are missing in flights". Got the only result of sites showing why 13 is omitted.
Why 18, 19 are omitted then?

Did you bother to even read what I wrote? "So that certain rows are standardized across the fleet".

It's nice to learn that assigning a number to a seat on an airplane also needs to follow a certain standard.
