He also discovered Steve Winwood (singer/organist in this classic song, one of their big hits, later in Traffic).

Spencer Davis discovering Steve Windwood reminds one of the Big Band era when Frank Sinatra left Tommy Dorsey's band for a solo singing career. Davis was respected in the US but Steve Winwood and Traffic became superstars. So it goes in the music industry. RIP.
