AI Thread Summary
Enabling Value Added Services (VAS) through the SIM Tool Kit (STK) is often seen as cumbersome due to the multiple steps required for selection and confirmation via SMS. Users are exploring the possibility of automating these recurring VAS features through mobile applications on Android or iPhone. The discussion includes a detailed example of a typical recharge process involving a retailer who navigates through a series of prompts using a dialer to recharge a mobile phone. The inquiry focuses on whether this procedure can be simplified with a mobile app, potentially streamlining the user experience. Suggestions include checking forums like XDA Developers for existing third-party applications that may automate these processes.

Hi PF,
In general, one can enable VAS (Value Added Services) provided by subscriber via the STK (Sim Tool Kit). However, I think its actually tedious to open the STK, select the required VAS, confirm your selection via SMS every time. I would like to know, if it is possible to automate some recurring VAS features using an Android/iphone app?

I'm sorry you are not finding help at the moment. Is there any additional information you can share with us?

Your best bet might be to check at http://xda-developers.com
Post on the Q&A form for your phone or general android
There's a chance that someone else has already someone has a 3rd party app that automates the process for you.

@greg
Sorry for the late responses. Consider this case. I want to check my recharge my smartphone. For this I go to the nearest retailer and he will be using the following procedure
1. Using dialer, I will be initiating *111# and the request is sent to my network provider
2. after a couple of seconds, a pop-up with six options appear

Select
1 - To add Air-time
2 - To add Data pack
3 - To pay a bill

Now, the retailer selects '1' and clicks 'Send' option.
The next pop-up asks the retailer to Enter the Mobile number to get recharged. The retailer enters the numbers and hits 'Send'
the next pop-up appears again to confirm the number. The retailer 'Confirms'
the next pop-up is used to enter the air-time value to be added. Finally the retailer hits 'Send'

My mobile finally gets recharged and I pay the retailer

This recharge procedure in hard wired in the retailer's sim card. Now my query is if this process can be carried lot more easily using an mobile app?

@Routaran
Thanks for the info. Will post my query even on XDA

Thanks again

This week, I saw a documentary done by the French called Les sacrifiés de l'IA, which was presented by a Canadian show Enquête. If you understand French I recommend it. Very eye-opening. I found a similar documentary in English called The Human Cost of AI: Data workers in the Global South. There is also an interview with Milagros Miceli (appearing in both documentaries) on Youtube: I also found a powerpoint presentation by the economist Uma Rani (appearing in the French documentary), AI...
