Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the mechanics of the offers made by the "banker" in the show "The Banker's Offer," particularly focusing on the mathematical or algorithmic basis for these offers. Participants explore whether there is a specific equation used and the knowledge the banker has regarding the values in the briefcases.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Debate/contested, Conceptual clarification

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants express curiosity about the equation used for the banker's offers, noting a lack of information available online.
  • Others share a link to another forum thread that may contain relevant discussions about the banker's offers.
  • There is a question raised about whether the banker knows the values inside the briefcases ahead of time, with some participants suggesting that the banker does not have this knowledge.
  • One participant proposes that there is no set formula for the offers, indicating that the banker makes decisions based on the remaining money options and the player's behavior.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree that the exact mechanics of the banker's offers are unclear, with multiple competing views on whether a formula exists and the extent of the banker's knowledge about the briefcases.

Contextual Notes

Limitations include the lack of a definitive formula for the banker's offers and uncertainty regarding the banker's prior knowledge of the briefcase values.

I just saw this show, I know it has been on in europe for a while but it just started here in the US. I was wondering what the equation they were using for the offers from the "banker", anyone figured it out yet? Goooooogle turned up very little.

I am wondering the exact same thing!

How about this link (a thread): http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/printthread.php?t=301892&page=5&pp=25

I have only read part of it, but they seem to be discussing it.

Does the banker know the value inside each of the briefcases ahead of time?

I think the banker does not.

Ok, from what I have read so far, it seems like there is no set formula. Instead the banker goes person by person and decides a number based on the money options left and the way the person has been playing.
