Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants express enthusiasm about the door's design, noting its novelty and potential for creative uses in performances.
  • Concerns are raised about the door's accessibility, with multiple participants questioning whether it can be opened from both sides.
  • Some argue that the door's creaking sound suggests it may not be practical for everyday use, while others suggest that it could be made from materials other than wood.
  • A participant mentions a steel version of the door, suggesting it could be more functional and practical than the wooden design.
  • There is a humorous suggestion about a feature of the steel version that could be dangerous, indicating a playful tone in the discussion.
  • One participant proposes a specific application for the door as a closet door, questioning the ease of locating certain components in the design.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally express mixed views, with some agreeing on the door's aesthetic appeal while others contest its practicality and functionality. The discussion remains unresolved regarding the door's accessibility and overall usability.

Contextual Notes

Participants reference different versions of the door (wood and steel) and their respective functionalities, but there are no definitive conclusions about which design is superior or more practical.

I don't often get excited about doors, but this is pretty neat!

thanks Greg

never seen anything like that one ... definitely cool

Wouldn't that door be only accessible from that one side?

Also...so much creaking of the wood...

Amazing design! Probably not so practical for a real door, but it could be used to great effect in some sort of stage show or music video.

who said it had to be wood ?
and here's the steel version being opened from both sides
That doesn't seem to be a problem

The steel one seems much better and could be an actual door. Looks like it could be made of wood as well as steel.

In the first video, it didn't look like the other side had anything for the person to push to open it...maybe there are handles on that side that we can't see...o.o

It's function is to look cool, not for people to go through the opening.

Memo to self: never give a furniture designer a book on origami.

It doesn't require a handle, it is enough to push.

Also...so much creaking of the wood...

Floor is crackling, not the door.

Would do nicely for a closet door. 2x2 wood frame covered with print to match room accessories...

Are those rods on the back as easy to locate as it looks?

I notice one interleaves, the other flexes...

It has a built in feature where it cuts your fingers off clean and cauterizes the wound. You could say it's cutting edge technology.
