SUMMARY

Several universities in the United States offer full funding for students pursuing a Master of Science in Analytical Chemistry, including the University of Minnesota Duluth and Portland State University, though the latter remains unconfirmed. While many institutions advertise assistantships, actual funding opportunities are rare and often contingent on exceptional academic performance, such as a 4.0 GPA and high GRE scores. Additionally, securing funding through corporate sponsorship from companies like DuPont or Dow is a viable option for top-tier candidates.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of graduate funding structures in U.S. universities
  • Familiarity with the application process for teaching assistantships (TAs) and research assistantships (RAs)
  • Knowledge of corporate sponsorship opportunities for graduate education
  • Insight into academic performance metrics, including GPA and GRE scores
NEXT STEPS
  • Research funding opportunities at the University of Minnesota Duluth and Portland State University
  • Explore corporate sponsorship programs offered by companies like DuPont and Dow
  • Investigate the requirements for teaching assistantships and research assistantships in chemistry programs
  • Review strategies for improving GPA and GRE scores to enhance funding eligibility
USEFUL FOR

Prospective graduate students in analytical chemistry, academic advisors, and individuals seeking funding opportunities for advanced degrees in the sciences.

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if any of you know any schools that will provide full funding for students pursuing a MS in analytical chemistry in the US? I have done some research and there are many schools that state they provide assistantships to masters students but once contacted, admit that it is very unlikely for me to receive them.

The schools that I have found so far are:
U of MN Duluth
Portland State U (unconfirmed)

Thank you!

Unlikely. With an adequate background, you should be able to get a TA or perhaps and RA position. Full rides are rare, unless you can play football too... j/k ... sort of.

I had friends that were math superstars get a company to pay the full cost of ANY grad school they wanted, but you had to sign in blood for an equal number of years working for them. I would contact big companies like DuPont, Dow, etc. However, I’ve only seen this done for superstar material (i.e. 4.0 GPA, great GRE scores, etc.).
