I'm planning on transferring into UC Berkeley for either physics or astrophysics. They don't offer a BS for either of these, only BA. Is there a big difference between the two?
The discussion centers around the implications of transferring to UC Berkeley for a degree in physics or astrophysics, specifically focusing on the distinction between a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. Participants explore the perceived differences in rigor and the potential impact on future employment or graduate school applications.
Participants do not reach a consensus on the implications of holding a BA versus a BS, with multiple competing views regarding the significance of the degree type in professional and academic contexts.
Some assumptions about the rigor of degrees and their implications for future opportunities remain unresolved, as well as the cultural significance of degree nomenclature across different institutions.
