Identifying an undercut in CAD modeling can be challenging, particularly in distinguishing it from other features. An undercut typically refers to a recessed area that cannot be reached by a straight tool, complicating machining processes. Clarifying the definition and characteristics of an undercut is essential for accurate classification. Modeling the undercut with a different radius and tolerance may help in visualizing and programming the feature correctly. Understanding these aspects will enhance the effectiveness of CAD software in detecting undercuts.

Hi,

How am I suppose to tell a computer what an undercut is? I myself am finding it hard to classify different features on a job as an undercut or not. Please help.

Can you be clearer? I guess it's a shaft and the computer is a CAD package? Can't you just model the undercut as a different radius with a different tolerance?

Had my central air system checked when it sortta wasn't working. I guess I hadn't replaced the filter. Guy suggested I might want to get a UV filter accessory. He said it would "kill bugs and particulates". I know UV can kill the former, not sure how he thinks it's gonna murder the latter. Now I'm finding out there's more than one type of UV filter: one for the air flow and one for the coil. He was suggesting we might get one for the air flow, but now we'll have to change the bulb...
