Very URGENT!Relativity problem(True or False)??

Homework Statement


YOu have a meter stick located at rest along y axis. Another person moving along x-axis
will measure the length of meter stick to be less than 1 meter.

I think it's true..but my friend said it's false...Is it true or false?

I believe an object only experiences contraction in the direction of motion. The y-axis will not contract if the observer is moving in the x-direction.

False ; )
