SUMMARY

The discussion centers on identifying the best books and resources for understanding transmission systems, specifically focusing on their parts and working principles. Participants mention the need for comprehensive materials covering both automatic and manual transmissions, including specific mechanisms like gears and shafts. While two books were referenced, the conversation emphasizes the abundance of online resources available for further exploration of transmission types, such as dual clutch and no lift shift transmissions.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles
  • Familiarity with transmission types, including automatic and manual systems
  • Knowledge of key components such as gears and shafts
  • Ability to navigate online educational resources and databases
NEXT STEPS
  • Research "Transmission Systems: Principles and Applications" for in-depth knowledge
  • Explore online courses on "Automotive Transmissions" through platforms like Coursera or Udemy
  • Investigate the "How Automatic Transmissions Work" article on HowStuffWorks for practical insights
  • Look into "Fundamentals of Vehicle Dynamics" for a broader understanding of vehicle systems
USEFUL FOR

Students, automotive engineers, and mechanics seeking to deepen their understanding of transmission systems and their components.

I have to do a project on transmissions, their parts and working principles, shafts used in them.I searched but can't find good textbook aiming them.I found only two books. can you give me the names of transmission books.

There are lots of online resources for this. What have you found so far online?

What type of transmissions? Automatic with fluid clutch? Standard manual transmission, maybe with dog gears to allow shifting without using clutch. Dual clutch transmissions. No lift shift transmissions.

I have just looked up at wikipedia and found two books. In general I have to articulate mechanisms, gears and other key elemenst used in them and their working principle. It could be automatic or manual transmissions.can you share links and book names?
