What are the practical applications of physics and metallurgy in daily life?

I am a physics enthusiast and an avid learner. I sometimes apply principals of physics to solve problems/matters of daily life. Besides physics, metallurgy is my area of interest. With an under-graduation in engineering, gained interest both in science and its application in technology.
