Canadians are american deserters of the revolution and a bunch of british butt kissers. Not to mention they are smelly and like hockey. They're lucky they got that iceberg of a country.

U.S.A! U.S.A! U.S.A!

Not all Canadian have british ancestry. Some american revoltionnaire move to Canada during the early 1800's. The Canadian west was populated with immigrants, a large number from easter europe mostly the ukraine.

I think you should go back to your history book

Can't forget the French either. The US got the French deserters...our Cajuns were their Acadians (say Acadian with a really severe Southern drawl and you'll pick up how the names are related).

Actually Canada is considered a 'middle power' and is in G8, we're not that weak.

iansmith, I'm glad the Canadian government is teaching their citizens what "really happened."

Maybe those from B.C. and Ontario.

Not the Quebecois. We think nothing of the British.

Toronto Maple Leafs, havn't made it to the finals in half a decade.

Plus, their fans suck.

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

this is a relative statement as the world is mostly poor... and it is the struggle for power that creates problems worldwide.

Scenerio: there is a door on the north end of a room where 20 people sit at the south end of the room in rows of 2. Survival is outside the north door. Based on what you know about yourself and the human condition:

What happens when there is only room for 19 people on the otherside?
What happens when there is only room for 10 people?
What happens when there is only room for 1?

and What happens if there is room for EVERYONE?

on top of that, don't show off your ninth place ribbons - reference: "meet the fockers" :-p

The acadian are not deserters, they were deported by the bristish because they did not want to pledge an oath of allegiance to the Crown.

you are of course entitled to your opinion, but your remarks cause others to believe the American stereotype, and encourage this way of thinking among the nonthinking American public...

your opinion of another nations anthem shows the amount of respect you have and deserve... super mentor or not. shame, america needs less of this attitude.

Oops, got that part mixed up (I got the brief history of French Canada while visiting Quebec, and it was a lot to remember...I didn't know I was going to get so much information packed into a 2 hour tour of the city...I should have taken notes; our tour guide was excellent...I wish they had people like him teaching history courses in the US; I might have paid more attention in school rather than falling asleep all the time). They must have really wanted to get them far away to have sent them all the way down to Louisiana.

Don't take dduardo seriously. When he gets bored up there in technology, he comes down here and starts trouble in GD. Besides, the PF sisterhood has dibs on beating him up for his comments in another thread.

what is the point of this thread? Canada is awsome and you know it. it's fun to joke about other countries, but some here seem to be making actual stabs at us. Canadians are condescending? what the heck is that all about. Americans are just angry because they are the super power but still rank crap on the list of worlds best countries compared to Canada where we are about the least super power of them all.

PS. Canada rules :)

That's exactly what I mean about the Canadians on this forum being condescending (note: I didn't say Canadians, nor am I making any comment on the country itself, just the posters here). You, and plenty of others, do your best to take shots at the US every chance you get, proclaiming your superiority. That's pretty damn near the textbook definition of condescension. "Patronizing superior attitude" as dictionary.com puts it.

I didn't get the time line, but it must have been. I can't see any other reason they weren't dumped someplace else. But we don't get that much Canadian history in the US (they would have had to admit Benedict Arnold was a very good general before he turned traitor if they did). The folks I know from Louisiana have to learn it to know about the Cajun origins. I can't say I'd complain much being "dragged" from someplace where the river freezes 8 feet deep in the winter to someplace that's warm and sunny all year around. I think the joke was on the British, the Cajun's got the better end of that deal.

stereotypes can change with progress...

weren't black people once thought of as poor uneducated cotton pickers? no longer applicable today... it's either a thug, sports athlete, or rapper

chinese people were poor laborers... now they are doctors, IT techs, "RICH"...

latin americans used be Mexicans...

my point is that if these cultural groups evolve their status through EDUCATION over time, so can any other stereotype.

What is the Canadian Stereotype?

I think Canada is a peace keeping, well educated country advanced in understanding global issues. Dr. David Suzuki is a Canadian.

A bit cold in most places, but that is besides the point.
