What Existed Before the Big Bang?

What do you guys think existed before the big bang? This question has stumped me for years. No doubt it will never be answered with certainty.

The theory is that space and time was created in an instance. I can not and never will be able to get my head around the notion that time and space didnt exist before that. somthing had to be there and time must have been passing.
