A tribometer is an instrument used to measure friction, wear, and lubrication properties of materials. It operates by simulating contact between surfaces under controlled conditions to analyze their behavior. The discussion highlights a request for information about tribometers, particularly in the context of designing one for hypoid gear sets. The response emphasizes the availability of information online, suggesting that users should conduct their own research before posting basic questions. The thread was ultimately locked due to the perceived lack of effort in seeking answers.

You're joking, right? I used Google, and the wikipedia article at the top of the hit list is pretty clear. Please don't waste our time here on questions that you can answer yourself with very little effort on your part. Thread locked.

Had my central air system checked when it sortta wasn't working. I guess I hadn't replaced the filter. Guy suggested I might want to get a UV filter accessory. He said it would "kill bugs and particulates". I know UV can kill the former, not sure how he thinks it's gonna murder the latter. Now I'm finding out there's more than one type of UV filter: one for the air flow and one for the coil. He was suggesting we might get one for the air flow, but now we'll have to change the bulb...
