SUMMARY

Engineers Without Borders-USA (EWB-USA) is a non-profit organization established in the late 1990s at the University of Colorado, dedicated to implementing sustainable engineering projects globally. The organization has successfully operated in over 30 countries, focusing on community-driven initiatives such as well construction, water distribution systems, sanitation, and solar power installations. EWB chapters, including those at Texas A&M and Rice University, engage in project fundraising independently through donations and grants, with project execution typically occurring during academic breaks.

Building A Better World, One Community At A Time

Engineers Without Borders-USA is a non-profit, humanitarian organization founded at the University of Colorado in the late 1990's. The organization aims to deliver environmentally and economically sustainable engineering projects to communities worldwide to improve quality of life. The nationwide organization has worked in more than 30 countries, mostly in partnership with small communities in the developing world. They assist in the desing and implementation of wells, water distribution systems, sanitation systems, solar power systems and many other smaller projects.

Projects are initiated through the national organizations website, with all project fund-raising done independently through generous sponsor donations and grants. After a chapter has been granted a bid, a small team is sent to investigate the area and do extensive detailing on the work to be done. Projects typically take place during summer, spring break and over winter holidays.
This is cool. And it would look good on a resume!

I am definitely going to check this program out - and may be volunteer.
