SUMMARY

The best introductory books to learn about Einstein's theories include "Relativity: The Special and General Theory," which is available for free online, and "Spacetime Physics" by Taylor and Wheeler, which serves as a modern introduction to Special Relativity (SR). The discussion emphasizes the importance of these texts for individuals with a background in higher-level mathematics and physics, such as Calculus III and Differential Equations. Additionally, users are encouraged to explore other threads in the science book forum for further recommendations on relativity literature.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of higher-level mathematics, including Calculus III and Differential Equations.
  • Basic knowledge of physics concepts, particularly those related to relativity.
  • Familiarity with online academic resources for accessing free literature.
  • Interest in theoretical physics and its historical context.
NEXT STEPS
  • Read "Relativity: The Special and General Theory" by Albert Einstein.
  • Study "Spacetime Physics" by Taylor and Wheeler for a modern perspective on Special Relativity.
  • Explore additional threads in the science book forum for more relativity book recommendations.
  • Research the historical impact of Einstein's theories on modern physics.
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for students, educators, and enthusiasts of physics who seek to deepen their understanding of Einstein's theories, particularly those with a foundation in advanced mathematics and physics.

Looking to learn about Einstein, especially his theories and such. Need an introductory level book, but I have completed higher level math classes like Calc III, Diff Equations and Physics III. Any book, author or publisher suggestions would help.

You can find his most important work free online. I would start with his "Relativity: The Special and General Theory", which incorporates his two most famous works, and can be found here: http://www.bartleby.com/173/

Taylor and Wheeler, "Spacetime Physics," is a good modern introduction to SR. Scan through the list of threads here in the science book forum (where I've moved this thread) and you'll find other threads on relativity books, for both SR and GR.
