I've just concluded that it is the best fruit in the world. My wife just cut up a fresh pineapple and I think my mouth just exploded.

Fresh pineapple is the best. Around the holidays, my wife tries to find some nice ripe ones and cuts them up into little bite-sized pieces when we're going to be around others. The kids just vacuum them up!

Grapes, cherries, etc are easy kid-treats because they are small. It only takes a couple of minutes to skin and chop a pineapple, though, and fresh pineapple chunks are a kid-magnet.

they are good fresh. i like to let them ripen until they lose all the green and maybe even have a little mold growing on the bottom. but for some reason i don't understand, i can only eat so much of it, and then i completely lose my taste for pineapple for a long time.

pineapple is like the only fruit you can easily cut into bite-sized hearts! cute!
but don't eat too much core... can lead to bezoars...

Two amazing fruit experiences in my life:
1: fresh oranges bought at a roadside stand in Florida,
2: fresh pineapple bought at a roadside stand in Hawaii

It's a different product completely compared to the store-bought fruit. I only eat canned pineapple here in CT to remind me of the experience I once had, but it's only like a photograph. Tastes like a photograph too.

Sometimes roadside stands/farmer's markets have fruit/veggies even worse than supermarket junk, but that's the exception. If I have any travel advice for people out there, it's "stop at roadside stands."

Fresh peaches from a road-side stand in south Georgia. Incredible! Need to wear a bib and bring a towel.
