SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the concepts of union and intersection in set theory, clarifying that these are not equations but rather operations involving sets. The notation for union is represented as "B ∪ C" and the intersection is denoted by the symbol "\". Participants recommend using online resources to better understand these concepts, emphasizing the importance of set theory in mathematics. Google is suggested as a valuable tool for finding relevant information.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic set theory concepts
  • Familiarity with mathematical notation
  • Ability to use online search engines effectively
  • Knowledge of union and intersection operations
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the definitions and properties of union and intersection in set theory
  • Explore online resources specifically focused on set theory
  • Learn about Venn diagrams to visualize union and intersection
  • Study the applications of set theory in various mathematical fields
USEFUL FOR

Students of mathematics, educators teaching set theory, and anyone seeking to clarify the concepts of union and intersection in mathematical contexts.

Hello everybody.
I'm foreigner and I'm studying mathematics.
I would like to find online resources to help me understand/solve my problem, however due to fact that I'm studying math in my own language, rather than English. I have a bit of a trouble.
Here is the problem I'm trying to solve

Thank you

You do not have an 'equation' (which would need an '=' sign somewhere in it); you just have a problem in set theory. Your problem is easily solved just by figuring out what is ##B \cup C## and what is meant by "\". Those are notations from set theory, and can be found in many books or in many on-line sources. Google is your friend.

Goethe,

Ray Vickson is right. What you have supplied us with is not an equation.

Hello Goethe10!

Google "union and intersection".
