AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers around the formatting of mathematical symbols in LaTeX. Participants are examining the proper representation of summation and supremum symbols, specifically comparing different styles. One participant highlights the difference between using plain text and LaTeX formatting for the supremum symbol, noting that the latter results in the symbol appearing in Roman type instead of italics. Is this what you want?
\sum_{j \in J} --> [math]\sum_{j \in J}[/math]

and
\underset{x \in B_j} {sup} -->[math]\underset{x \in B_j} {sup}[/math]

-Dan

Alternatively, \sup_{x\in B_j} --> $\displaystyle \sup_{x\in B_j}$. (The symbol for sup then appears in Roman type rather than italics.)

My thanks to Dan and Opalg …
