SUMMARY

The field Z₂, also denoted as F₂, consists of the elements 0 and 1, operating under addition and multiplication modulo 2. This field is significant in various mathematical contexts, particularly in group theory and coding theory. The notation Z₂ is commonly used to represent the group {0, 1} under addition modulo 2, highlighting its foundational role in abstract algebra.

What is the field [itex]Z_{2}[/itex]?

Physics news on Phys.org
I'm guessing it is just another way of writting [itex]F_2[/itex]. Which is the field with elements 0,1 under addition and multiplication [itex]\mod 2[/itex]. Usually, the notation [itex]Z_2[/itex] is used to represent the group {0,1} under addition mod 2.

Thanks.
