Art What makes Japan's synchronized dance culture so astonishing?

AI Thread Summary
In Japan, there is a remarkable cultural phenomenon where individuals, including children, exhibit synchronized movement and dance, showcasing exceptional technical timing and body control. This is evident in various dance forms, notably Butoh, which stands out for its unique style. Events like the Luxury Soul Night in Tokyo highlight the vibrant hip-hop scene, featuring numerous talented acts performing in quick succession over extended periods. Additionally, social interactions among children of different genders are more fluid in Japan compared to the more segregated play often observed in the U.S. This cultural openness contributes to a rich artistic environment, fostering a diverse range of dance and performance opportunities.

It seems that everyone can move in sync in Japan, even little kids. I've wondered, what would happen if they practiced really hard and took it to the max? Now we know. Listen to that crowd roar. Wow. And these are amateurs. That's just the way it is over there. They do everything this way.

Love some of the dance groups I've seen over the years. The technical timing and body movements are beyond my understanding.

I have seen Butoh dancing performances a couple of times. This Japanese form is like no other I ever saw.

Just watched it. Pretty amazing.

Butoh Dance.

Here's another astonishing routine. After this I suppose they'll get jobs with Sony and Panasonic.

In Tokyo I went to Luxury Soul Night, a hip-hop dance concert that lasted for twelve hours. Each act got about five minutes on stage. And they were all good.

Another unusual thing about Japan is how readily the sexes play together from very young children on up. Every possible random proportion. In the US it was always boys with boys and girls with girls.

Pretty cool. I want to be a hip hop dancer in my next incarnation. Talk about karma.
