Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around troubleshooting issues related to transferring pictures from a camera to a computer, focusing on potential reasons why new pictures are not appearing after being downloaded from an SD card. The scope includes technical troubleshooting and user experiences with camera software.

Discussion Character

  • Technical explanation
  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant notes they successfully downloaded many pictures but cannot load new ones, suggesting the camera is functioning properly.
  • Another participant inquires whether the pictures were deleted from the SD card, expressing concern about potentially losing a recent photo.
  • A participant mentions that if the camera did not indicate the card was full, the pictures should still be accessible.
  • One suggestion is to check a different folder where the camera software may save pictures by default, such as "shared pictures" instead of "my pictures."
  • Another participant recommends using the search function on the computer to locate pictures by setting specific 'last modified' dates.
  • There is a humorous suggestion that pictures might have been saved on a malfunctioning computer belonging to another user.
  • A participant points out that pictures often have similar naming conventions, suggesting a search for specific file names could help locate them.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express various hypotheses about where the pictures might be located and how to retrieve them, but there is no consensus on the underlying issue or a definitive solution.

Contextual Notes

Some participants mention uncertainty about the status of the SD card and the camera's software settings, which may affect the outcome of the troubleshooting process.

Did you delete them off the card?

I do not know how to, i took one of a great rainbow today i hope i have not lost it permanently.

If the camera didn't yell at you to tell you the card was full, you should be ok.

No, no warnings, but the previous pic i thought i had loaded is not there now either, may be they are loading to a different folder?

My camera software dumps pictures in "shared pictures" rather than "my pictures" by default. Try there?

If not, select search from the start menu. Search for pictures and on the advanced options set the 'last modified' dates to either the day you transferred the pictures or the day you took them, then just search for *
That should bring up any pictures created or modified on the date you specify, so your photos should be there somewhere.

Hope you find them.

Thanks mathyaouw, i will try that later.

Maybe you saved them on Evo's computer...the one that went kerplooey. The two of you should definitely not be allowed on the same continent.

most have a similar 'name' before renaming with the usual extension---mvcxxx.jpg or dscxxx.jpg ---do a 'file find' for the name --like a search for mvc*.jpg----

Well i think that is a bit austerulous calling me a danger to continents.
I am sure Evo would not harm them either.
