Nickel can reduce metals that have a higher standard reduction potential, as it is a stronger reductant. In the discussion, it is confirmed that three specific metals possess a higher standard reduction potential than nickel, making them weaker reductants. The conclusion reached is that nickel can effectively reduce these metals. The participant's understanding of the relationship between reduction potential and reductant strength is validated. Overall, the discussion emphasizes the role of standard reduction potentials in determining which metals nickel can reduce.

The Attempt at a Solution

If a metal was to plate out, it means nickel is a stronger reductant therefore more negative standard reduction potential. 3 metals have a higher standard reduction potential so they will are weaker reductants than nickel. So is D correct?

Cheers!

Yes your answer is correct.

I don't get how to argue it. i can prove: evolution is the ability to adapt, whether it's progression or regression from some point of view, so if evolution is not constant then animal generations couldn`t stay alive for a big amount of time because when climate is changing this generations die. but they dont. so evolution is constant. but its not an argument, right? how to fing arguments when i only prove it.. analytically, i guess it called that (this is indirectly related to biology, im...
Thread 'How to find the pH of a galvanic cell (MIT OCW problem set)'
This is the final problem in this problem set from MIT OCW. Here is what I did to try to solve it The table cited in the problem is below We can easily spot the two redox couples that are in the electrochemical cell we are given. The hydrogen-based electrode has standard potential zero, and the silver-based electrode has standard potential 0.22. Thus, the hydrogen electrode, with the lower potential, is the reducing agent (ie, it is where oxidation happens) and is the anode. Electrons...
