Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the participant's uncertainty regarding their academic and career path, specifically considering options in computer engineering, mathematics, and cosmology. The scope includes personal interests, potential career directions, and the relationship between different fields of study.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Conceptual clarification, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • The original poster expresses uncertainty about their current path in computer engineering and considers their interests in mathematics and cosmology.
  • Some participants suggest that observational cosmology could integrate the original poster's interests in electronics and cosmology.
  • A question is raised about the distinction between observational cosmology and cosmology, prompting a discussion on empirical versus theoretical aspects.
  • Another participant offers a clarification that observational cosmology is more experimental, while cosmology is primarily theoretical, though this distinction may be contentious among some members.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

The discussion includes multiple viewpoints regarding the relationship between observational cosmology and cosmology, with no clear consensus on the definitions or implications of these terms.

Contextual Notes

The discussion reflects personal interests and potential career paths without resolving the complexities of each field's definitions or the implications of switching paths.

Who May Find This Useful

Students or individuals considering a career in computer engineering, mathematics, or cosmology, as well as those interested in the interplay between theoretical and experimental sciences.

I am currently computer engineering student(second year).
Well its not like I don't like computer engineering.but somtimes I think I should have chosen another path.I am pretty good at mathematics.I like to solve maths problems.I am also fascinated about cosmology.I like electronics as well.I can't think of which path I should choose?I don't know if I still got chance to change my carrier path.

Observational cosmology would blend your love of electronics with your love of cosmology.

Is there any difference between observational cosmology and cosmology?

Well, I'd say that one is empirical science and the other mostly is not, but that might rub a few individuals on these boards the wrong way, so I'll just say that one is more or less the experimental aspect while the other is the theoretical aspect.

Oh ok I get it.thanx for advice.
