SUMMARY

The discussion clarifies that sp3 hybridization consists of four atomic orbitals combining to form four sp3 orbitals, with three of these orbitals originating from p orbitals. This results in the designation of sp3 bonds being 75% p character. The nomenclature and reasoning behind this classification are supported by references to established sources, such as Wikipedia's section on hybrid orbitals.

PREREQUISITES

I think the title says it all. Lemme know if it is unclear.

There are 4 atomic orbitals that combine forming 4 sp3 orbitals. 3 out of 4 that combine are p orbitals, hence the 75%.
