Generally they do. For example, here http://www.journalofsurgicalresearch.com/article/S0022-4804(10)00629-3/abstract (taken randomly from the front page of http://retractionwatch.com/ ). Since this is under "Forthcoming articles", one presumes that the retraction notice will be published in time.

Seems this is the first time of retraction for New Journal of Physics, and Prof. Ulf Leonhardt once was Associate Editor of this journal.
