SUMMARY

The New Journal of Physics has retracted two articles authored by Prof. Ulf Leonhardt and colleagues, specifically "Evidence for subwavelength imaging with positive refraction" (2011) and "Subwavelength imaging with materials of in-principle arbitrarily low index contrast" (2012). This marks the first retraction for the journal, which previously had Prof. Leonhardt as an Associate Editor. The reasons for the retractions have not been explicitly stated, but it is expected that a retraction notice will be published in due course. The discussion highlights the importance of transparency in the retraction process within scientific publishing.

PREREQUISITES
 • Understanding of scientific publishing ethics
 • Familiarity with retraction processes in academic journals
 • Knowledge of optics and subwavelength imaging concepts
 • Awareness of the role of editors in scientific journals
NEXT STEPS
 • Research the retraction policies of various scientific journals
 • Explore the implications of retractions on academic credibility
 • Study the principles of subwavelength imaging in optics
 • Investigate the role of editorial oversight in scientific publishing
USEFUL FOR

Researchers, academic publishers, and students in the fields of physics and optics, as well as anyone interested in the integrity of scientific research and publishing practices.

According to New Journal of Physics (http://iopscience.iop.org/1367-2630/page/Forthcoming%20articles) :
Retraction: Evidence for subwavelength imaging with positive refraction (2011 New J. Phys. 13 033016) Yun Gui Ma, Sahar Sahebdivan, C K Ong, Tomáˇs Tyc and Ulf Leonhardt
Retraction: Subwavelength imaging with materials of in-principle arbitrarily low index contrast (2012 New J. Phys. 14 025001) Y G Ma, S Sahebdivan, C K Ong, T Tyc and U Leonhardt

But why?

But why?

Not sure. Do journals usually state the reason they retract articles?

Seems this is the first time of retraction for New Journal of Physics, and Prof. Ulf Leonhardt once was Associate Editor of this journal.
