SUMMARY

Copenhagen Suborbitals, an amateur spaceflight organization, aims to achieve manned suborbital space flight. Despite a history of activity, recent discussions indicate a lack of updates and a limited crowdfunding budget for 2024, raising skepticism about their success. The group previously competed to launch a Dane into space before professional astronaut Andreas Mogensen, who succeeded in 2015. Current engagement from volunteers remains uncertain, but the ambition persists.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of suborbital flight principles
  • Familiarity with crowdfunding strategies in aerospace
  • Knowledge of amateur rocketry and space exploration
  • Awareness of the history of spaceflight competitions
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the technical specifications of suborbital vehicles
  • Explore crowdfunding platforms for aerospace projects
  • Investigate the role of amateur organizations in space exploration
  • Study the achievements and missions of professional astronauts like Andreas Mogensen
USEFUL FOR

Aerospace enthusiasts, amateur rocketry advocates, and individuals interested in the dynamics of crowdfunding in space exploration will benefit from this discussion.

Do you think that this group of amateurs will succeed in performing a manned suborbital space flight?

I personally am skeptical, but then again, stranger things have happened. I’d love to hear what actual aerospace engineers have to say about them.

The group has, to my knowledge, been fairly quiet for many years now and their crowd funding budget for 2024 looks rather meager, but I guess a select few volunteers may still be tinkering away in the lab.

(I was active supporter for many years, more or less coinciding with the period where the group, at least jokingly, was in a "race" to see if they were able to launch a Dane into space before Andreas Mogensen was launched. Eventually Andreas "won" in 2015).
