SUMMARY

Tropical Storm Gamma, currently located in the northwestern Caribbean, may strengthen into a hurricane as it moves into the Gulf of Mexico. There is a possibility that it could follow the same path as Hurricane Wilma towards South Florida. As of the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center, Gamma has maximum sustained winds of 45 MPH and is expected to gradually turn northward in the coming days. Tropical storm warnings are in effect for parts of Belize and the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of tropical storm classifications and advisories
  • Familiarity with NOAA and National Hurricane Center reports
  • Knowledge of meteorological terms such as "maximum sustained winds" and "central pressure"
  • Awareness of hurricane tracking tools like Weather Underground
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the impact of tropical storms on coastal regions
  • Learn about hurricane preparedness and safety measures
  • Explore historical hurricane paths and their effects on Florida
  • Investigate meteorological models used for hurricane forecasting
USEFUL FOR

Individuals interested in meteorology, emergency management professionals, residents of coastal areas, and anyone seeking to understand tropical storm dynamics and preparedness strategies.

As a tropical depression, it was not expected to be a threat to the US. Well Nature had other ideas.

Gamma may reach hurricane strength if it passes into the Gulf of Mexico, and it could follow Wilma's track to S. Florida.

Well it's getting pretty chilly here in Tallahassee, so it will probably be detered like the last one if it heads our way.
