SUMMARY

WT1190F, a piece of human-created space junk, is set to impact Earth on November 13 at 6:20 UTC, approximately 65 kilometers off the southern tip of Sri Lanka. The object follows a highly elliptical orbit, extending beyond the Earth-Moon distance. While most of WT1190F is expected to burn up upon re-entry into the atmosphere, caution is advised for those in the vicinity of its predicted landing area.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of orbital mechanics and trajectories
  • Familiarity with atmospheric re-entry processes
  • Knowledge of space debris tracking systems
  • Awareness of the implications of human-created space junk
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the methods used for tracking space debris
  • Learn about atmospheric re-entry dynamics and thermal protection
  • Explore the implications of space junk on satellite operations
  • Investigate international regulations regarding space debris management
USEFUL FOR

Aerospace engineers, space scientists, environmentalists concerned with space debris, and anyone interested in the impact of human activity on Earth's atmosphere.

On November 13 a small chunk of junk, named WT1190f will crash into earth; origin seems to be unknown. No , not aliens. It is human-created space junk.

Does anyone know more about the tracking asemblage they are inplementing from an existing plan - to keep close track on the object, and to test out the system?

Here is a link that doesn't have a bunch of naked women on the bottom of the page. (Not that there is anything wrong with that)

WT1190F travels a highly elliptical orbit, swinging out twice as far as the Earth–Moon distance, Gray says. Gray’s calculations show that it will hit Earth at 6:20 utc, hitting the ocean about 65 kilometers off the southern tip of Sri Lanka. Much, if not all, of it will burn up in the atmosphere, but “I would not necessarily want to be going fishing directly underneath it”, Gray says.

So far no one has mentioned that it will burn up on entry into the atmosphere. I guess I could have said re-entry
