Can Tobacco Substances Trigger Delayed Fear and Anxiety Responses?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

Tobacco alkaloids can induce delayed fear and anxiety responses, potentially triggering the fight or flight response. The discussion highlights the role of these compounds in extreme dissociative personality disorders, although the term is not widely recognized in scientific literature. Further exploration of the biochemical mechanisms behind these reactions is necessary for a comprehensive understanding.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of tobacco alkaloids and their effects on the human body
  • Knowledge of the fight or flight response mechanism
  • Familiarity with dissociative disorders and their classifications
  • Basic principles of neurochemistry related to anxiety and fear responses
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the specific alkaloids in tobacco and their physiological effects
  • Study the neurochemical pathways involved in the fight or flight response
  • Examine existing literature on dissociative personality disorders
  • Investigate therapeutic approaches for managing anxiety linked to substance use
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for psychologists, neuroscientists, and healthcare professionals interested in the psychological effects of tobacco and its alkaloids on mental health.

Hi,

Is it possible for a substance found in tobacco to cause a delayed chemical reaction that would trigger a feeling of fear and anxiety or alternativly trigger the flight or fight response ?

Thanks
Ian

Yes, alkaloids are responsible for these kind of "extreme dissociative personality disorders". I don't insist on using these term as I made it up; so any expert on this area will be of much more help.
