High School How Does Michelson-Morley Interferometer Measure Space-Time?
I was watching a video about space travel and one of the methods of going into space is using warp drive and to test if warp drive was possible they had to created a device to test if their ideas for warp drive was possible they had to measure space-time it's self and they said a...- Alex299792458

Undergrad Why are strange quarks strange?
Thanks for clearing up for me because a website I used for a long time said that they where named strange quarks because they where smaller the higher generation quarks(up quark) but they where more massive which is true for all the other 3 quarks and if there where more quarks they would be...- Alex299792458

Graduate Why do electrons have band widths or energy bands?
I understand the bands fall in a certain region on the electromagnetic spectrum but why then don't all electrons have the same band width? Is it the nucleus, is it the atoms in the whole molecule, is it the arrangement of electrons in atom? If you look at plane old lead you will see that it is...- Alex299792458

Graduate Why do electrons have band widths or energy bands?
So I know glass is transparent because the electrons have energy bands(or the energy to get it up to the next energy state) that are beyond the energy of visible light. But what I what to know is why do the electrons have energy bands because every single electron is the same and there all...- Alex299792458

Undergrad Why are strange quarks strange?
I know that all the quark names have a meaning and that the strange quark was named "strange quark" because it had strange properties. What are those strange properties the strange quark possess?- Alex299792458

Graduate What are the 8 flavors of gluons?
Everywhere I see on a standard model it say's that there are 8 flavors of gluons. What do the flavors mean and are the 8 flavors?- Alex299792458

Is a A+ with a 100 more than a A+ with a 97?
I looked at my report card and saw the g.p.a. was calculated with what letter grade you get(All AP A+ = 5.00, all AP A = 4.6666, all AP A- =4.3333, etc.) but g.p.a. stands for grade point average which is the score in your grade like a 94 is A, 97 is A+, 92 is A-, 71 is C-, etc. so if it...- Alex299792458

High School Does viscosity have to do with density?
When you look at a viscous fluid its so thick and it seams that its dense and a runny fluid seams less dense. Like if you take a bottle of syrup it fells a bit heavier than a bottle of water. Plus if the atom are packed closer to each other (and in the form of liquid the atoms move past each...- Alex299792458

Graduate Do neutron stars, pulsars, magnetars etc. have weather?
I do think star quakes fall in the category of weather but they do hit 23 on the recner scale and can mess up a magnetars magnetic field.- Alex299792458
