Will a Halved Earth Orbital Period Affect Solar and Sidereal Days Differently?

I know that a solar day is about 4 minutes longer than a sidereal day. But what if the Earth orbital period around the sun is halved, but the rotation period is same? Will the solar day still be about 4 minutes longer? Thanks.

Calculating "theta" Using Step Up Transformer

Hi, so I know that VI = P cos (theta), but during an experiment using a step up transformer, I got the primary voltage 7.42V, primary current 0.41A, and primary power 3.2W. How then should I calculate the angle theta. I can't use arcosine, 'cause that will give me undefined. Thanks a lot.

Miller Index Problem - Is it (102) or (112)?

But, for example, this picture is also (1,-1,2). so are they a family?

Miller Index Problem - Is it (102) or (112)?

um..so are you saying that I can extend the vector so it eventually intersects with the y-axis? so the miller index should be (1-12)?

Miller Index Problem - Is it (102) or (112)?

thanks for the reply. But could you explain why is the y intercept for the triangular plane -1? it does not seem to intersect with the y axis?

Miller Index Problem - Is it (102) or (112)?

Can somebody tell me what is the miller index for the tilted plane? Is it (102) or (112)? Nothing seems to fit... I wonder if we can even describe it with miller index? Please download the picture here in pdf format: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=F8J344BH Thanks!

Fluid Mechanics: 2 Connected Cylinders w/ Different Diameters

Basically what we are thinking is it that since one has a larger surface area than the other one and the pressures are the same for both water surfaces, and F = PA, so force is larger on the bigger surface area than the smaller one. So the water should flow in the direction of the smaller...

Fluid Mechanics: 2 Connected Cylinders w/ Different Diameters

Hi, we are doing an experiment and encountered the following problem We have two cylindrical tubes connected together and the two tubes have different diameters (laying horizonally on the table, for example). So if we put water into the tubes and apply the same pressure to the two water...

    Solving D'Alambert Problem - Integrating g(x)

    g(x) = 1 when -1 < x < 1, and g(x) = 0 otherwise how do I get u(x,t) = (x+at+1)/2a for -1-at < x < -1+at = t for -1+at < x < 1-at = (1-x+at)/2a for 1-at< x<1+at Thanks

Programs Help! Should I Change Majors from CS to Math?

It's probably a good idea to ask yourself deep inside if you like CS or not, and if you really like Math or not. Having gone through the same mental struggle as you did, I recommend not to make any rash decisions. Sometime it is not your ability but your passion that matters. Even if you don't...
