Need help putting this Ayn Rand quote in perspective
There are two sides to every issue: one side is right and the other is wrong, but the middle is always evil. -AYN RAND Is she trying to say that being a moderate is bad? What exactly does this quote mean?- dratsab

Any books/articles for evolutionary stable strategy models in humans?
I'm halfway through the Selfish Gene, and was intrigued by his talk of strategies. Are there any good books that talk about this development in human behavior?- dratsab

Pushing a person in front of a minecart to save five
Hmm, I have a question about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trolley_problem#Transplant Instead of the surgeon sacrificing the healthy person, couldn't he just use the organs from one of the people who are already going to die?- dratsab

Pushing a person in front of a minecart to save five
So, I'm reading "The Big Questions" by Steven E. Landsburg, and when he talks about whether it is right or not to push someone in front of a minecart to save five other people, that there was a moral obligation to sacrifice one. Also, in the movie Unthinkable, a similar situation is presented...- dratsab

Is it harmful to learn too much trivia?
Hmm, thanks for the input, SamirS, and for the comedy, Jimmy, hoho. The only thing I have noticed is trying to memorize words that sound similar. For example, when I was younger, anagram, acronym, and antonym were easy to jumble up. Antonym was easy to distinguish because it rhymes with...- dratsab

Is it harmful to learn too much trivia?

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interference_theory) For example, if I pick up a little knowledge about everything, will I ultimately jumble it all up, and end up struggling to remember anything (or at...- dratsab

What evolutionary purpose is appreciation of beauty?
I know it could be used to say, find a good place to live, since we find water beautiful. But what about those that admire deserts? What about admiration of non-visual art? What benefits did they bring? I suppose some could be social.- dratsab

Question about sticky eyes (communication)
Agree'd, one time I was trying the sticky eyes on someone, and I found it hard to concentrate on what they were actually saying. I think if they see you looking away, they assume you are spacing out.- dratsab

Question about sticky eyes (communication)
I've read a few books on how to improve communication and social skills, but I noticed some disperaties. In one book, it said that the more you can apply sticky eyes (not taking your eyes off the person) the better. In another book, it said avoid sticky eyes, because it will make the other...- dratsab

How did kings and nobles come about?
A tad late, but I would like to thank all of you for contributing to my topic at hand. I think one answer I didn't really think about was the slight resource differences between tribes, I think that makes a lot of sense.- dratsab

Why is it that my drink tastes better with ice in it?
Like, even if it is ice cold already, it still seems to taste better with ice. I'm guessing it's just a psychological thing?- dratsab

How did kings and nobles come about?
What I mean is, how did tribal leaders evolve from being just the strongest men in the room to being complete rulers over large societies?- dratsab
