What are the overtones of a clarinet?

How does that work? If the fundamental frequency is 147 Hz then (147/4) equals the length? =36.75 this is not what I found... Do I divide by four then?

What are the overtones of a clarinet?

A clarinet can be treated as a resonant tube with one closed end. The fundamental frequency is 147 Hz. I was able to figure out the length of the clarinet: it is .583 m BUt the question is to calculate the frequencies of the first three overtones. Would the overtone equatinos used to...

    Wave properiies of supersonic jets

I am guessing that as the sonic jets take off they break the sound barrier and it will break the glass of people's houses once they take off. Also that it is too noisy But how do I discuss wave properties?

    Wave properiies of supersonic jets

Teachers Question: Why are the air bases of super sonic jets usually located far away from cities? Your response should discuss wave properties. I don't know what to answer. I have searched everywhere for it. Please help me!

How Does Temperature Influence Grandfather Clock Timing?

I am guessing that the metal rod expands when the room is hotter and "shrinks" when the room is colder. If the length is a dependant factor, wouldn't the period affect it becuase the rod lengthens and condenses?

How Does Temperature Influence Grandfather Clock Timing?

How does temperature affect grandfather clocks? A metal rod pendulum is inside of the clock. I have a question regarding this. If an expirement happened where 3 clocks were sent to the same time. ONe was put in a cold room, one in a hot, and one in a room temperature room. What would the...

How Does the Weight of a Pendulum Affect Its Motion?

A screw is put into the top of a cocnut and a long string is tied to the cocounut to make a simple penullum. A small hole is punched into the bottom of the coconut and the pendulum is made to oscillate. The cocnut milk flows gradually out through the hole. It is observed that the period...

How Does the Weight of a Pendulum Affect Its Motion?

I am teaching myself Physics 20. the question is basically that you tie a cococnut to a string and put a hole of the cocnut at the bottom so that the milk flows gradually out. The question is asking what variables affect the period of the penduallum
