Engineering Internships/Co-ops for Elec. Engineering - Necessary?

Hello, I hope someone can offer me some advice: I am currently enrolled full-time and working toward an electrical engineering (BSEE) degree at my local university. I'm finishing up the second year of the program this year and I've been trying like crazy to get accepted for an internship or...

US Job market outlook for EE/CE?

Seriously? Nobody is in a position to say anything meaningful about this subject? I'm not looking for a crystal ball just some thoughts about what kind of job market I might be entering when looking for an EE/CE job in a couple of years. Thanks, GeoMike

US Job market outlook for EE/CE?

Hello, I'm halfway through my undergrad program in EE (I've also been taking the necessary courses for a CE concentration, but have no yet declared it). I was wondering if anyone out there could give me an idea of what the job market for EE (and CE) looks like in the US at this moment, and...

Divergent series and the limit of the nth term as n approaches infinity

I'm looking for help with my conceptual understanding of part of the following: 1) If a series is convergent it's nth term approaches 0 as n approaches infinity This makes perfect sense to me. 2) If the nth term of a series does not approach 0 as n approaches infinity, the series is...

Help with springs and potential energy problem

So basically I forgot to account for the fact that if the mechanical energy is conserved (i.e. the mass is simply released, not slowly lowered) then an oscillation about x occurs requiring an additional term to account for the fact that there is a non-zero velocity as the mass passes through x...

Help with springs and potential energy problem

Ok, this seems simple, and it probably is, but I'm just not seeing why I'm getting two non-equivalent solutions... Homework Statement "A massless platform is supported by 4 equal springs (same length, same spring constant, etc.) A mass m is placed on the center of the platform causing an...

Scholarship offer for Illinois Institute of Tech - take it?

Scholarship offer for Illinois Institute of Tech -- take it? I'm really in need of some advice. I received a scholarship offer from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. They've offered me a scholarship (14k/year) that will cover about half of my total expenses each year. The...

    Integration with constant of proportionality

    This seems easy enough, but now I'm second guessing myself... Problem: http://www.mcschell.com/probl.gif I solved it as follows: \frac{dN}{ds} = k(250-s) dN = k(250-s) ds \int dN = \int k(250-s) ds N = k\int (250-s) ds N = k(\int 250 ds - \int s ds) N = k(250s - \frac{s^2}{2})...

http://www.mcschell.com/snowytrail.jpg From last winter. This winter has been pretty snowless thus far. We had a high of 67 in Portland (Maine) last week... Crazy. -GeoMike-

Why do we choose to multiply by 2 in simplifying this equation?

Multiplying by 2 allows the fraction to be rewritten so that part of it is in the form du/u, which can be integrated to to get ln(abs(u)) -GeoMike-
