Complete Analytical Exact Solutions of Navier-Stokes Eqs: Fluid Mechanics Book
Well then, I wonder if I should make it my mission to search deep into every fluids text and journal paper and compile one myself.- makethings

Music Dealing with Loud Music and Respect
File a complaint with the landlord? I assume you did not choose this roommate. Or if you did, then I would cut power to his room every night before you go to bed. A switch in the fuse/circuit breaker box should do the trick. Make sure he's already asleep though. If the music is loud enough...- makethings

Alternative method for power assessment of small wind turbines
That's cool.. I cannot tell at what altitude in the video you were testing your turbine, but if you were even higher up in the Earth's boundary layer you can get faster wind speeds. I am curious how high wind speed can your wind turbine handle? And what would the maximum power you can get from...- makethings

How to take the real part of this function
Thanks..this math is tedious. I was working on it at the same time you were and we have ever so slightly different answers ( I got some - where you have + and I have a sinh appear).. now I got to nit pick and see where you or I went wrong. ugh.. lol Thanks though for doing that grunt work...- makethings

How to take the real part of this function

How to take the real part of this function
You might have to point me to a tutorial on taking complex conjugates of a function as complicated as mine. I know I can break down e^{iz} = cosz + i sinz and perhaps take the conjugate as that cos - i sin ?? But with a function with multiple terms containing i, what would I do?- makethings

How to take the real part of this function
Hello. I have been trying to solve Stokes Second Problem modified with a stationary upper plate (with oscillating bottom plate with velocity u(0,t) = U cos nt). I found my solution for the velocity profile but I can't simplify it since my math knowledge is limited. Now you don't need to know...- makethings

Obtaining a USRA for Undergrad Research in Canada for Pure Math
Ask your department about how many people apply and how many scholarships they have. Ask around other departments and if you find one with a low volume of applications, apply there and you better your chances. Often this means you cannot be picky but in general, any department in the sciences...- makethings

Defending Against Nanotech Murder: Is It a Realistic Threat?
Those are some far fetched ideas for weapons.. maybe it would be one day possible so as for defense I'm sure it would be possible to come up with a safe field generator that produces EM fields that would specifically disable such devices. Or the "good side" of your ideas are you can have...- makethings

Why are heat pipes not used in PEM fuel cells?
I am curious to know the answer to this. Are you sure there are no embedded water/air cooling plates between each fuel cell? I can only take a stab at this problem by saying if the PEM fuel cell is operating at high current densities, it is going to produce a lot of water. Perhaps the...- makethings

Need help choosing a research topic for Caltech? Let's collaborate!
Learn something called finite volume methods in computational fluid dynamics and program a solver that will use spherical coordinates to model turbulent flow around a sphere at a reynold's number greater than two. You can surely generate some pretty pictures of flow and use them to impress those...- makethings
