Courses Finishing BS in physics, take EE courses?
I am getting a BS in Physics in december, but due to financial constraints I can't be in school much longer. Need advice on what to do. I transferred to this university and left some electrical courses behind because of the transfer cap unfortunately. I wonder at the close of my academic...- Noone1982

Schools Should I become a high school physics teacher?
Quite interesting that with a BS in Physics you got a job at an aerospace company started low and worked your way up in only a few years. An encouraging story! My fear is that I get a data entry job and it stays that way forever unless I quit and may get another data entry job!- Noone1982

Schools Should I become a high school physics teacher?
I do realize someone with a masters or PhD will make tons more than I would ever as a teacher. I truly don't spend money, I bet I am more frugal than any person you ever knew! I also receive royalty checks, so that is on top of anything I would start at. I'm alright with the salary of a...- Noone1982

Schools Should I become a high school physics teacher?
I heard the first few years of teaching can be tough, especially with the prepation part. Though I was told after a while, you basically memorize your lesson plans and just become really efficient. I also read one should when possible avoid extra-curricular activities and conferences during the...- Noone1982

Schools Should I become a high school physics teacher?
I'm getting my phyiscs bachelors in december. My original plan was to go all the way and get a PhD but I just can't keep staying in school that long. I realize graduate students get stipends, but I fear that won't be enough to support my family. I always enjoyed tutoring. I just love...- Noone1982

Graduate How to find this Laurent series?
I understand perfectly well how to do Taylor series, but I am foggy on these Laurent series. Say, we have something like, f\left( z \right)\; =\; \frac{1}{z^{2}\cdot \sin \left( z \right)} I think I need to use the taylor series expressions for sin(z) but otherwise, I am not sure what to... -

Graduate Why are Laurent Series manipulated differently for different regions?
Say we have the function: \frac{1}{\left( z-1 \right)\left( z+2 \right)} Using partial fractions, \frac{1}{\left( z-1 \right)\left( z+2 \right)}\; =\; \frac{1}{z-2}\; -\; \frac{1}{z\; -\; 1} My question comes in on why and how these equations are manipulted for different regions. Now for a)... -

Finding an Orthornomal Polarization?
Say I have a polarization [3i, 2], How do I find a polarization that is orthogonal? I know that, AA^{\cdot }\; +\; BB^{\cdot }\; =\; 0 But my problem is that it yields one equation and two unknowns which I can't solve for. Furthermore, I am a bit confused on the representation of [3i,2]...- Noone1982

D'oh! Sorry for taking your time, my initial approach was correct but I must have done some silly calculator error.- Noone1982

Finding the shortwavelength limit of the white spectrum
Homework Statement I am trying to find the short wavelength limit ( and consequently plankcs constant) of the white or bremstrahlung spectrum. The data came from the bragg scattering of x-rays produced from a copper anode scattered of a NaCl crystal. The graph is counts vs degrees. The...- Noone1982

Graduate Simulating heat transfer as a function of time between two bodies
This is not homework, so I think this is the right forum. I am trying to write a program that simulates the heat transfer between, say two cubes of different volumes, heat capacities and thermal resistances. I know Newton's law of cooling just works dandy for say an object cooling in a fixed...- Noone1982

Graduate Extremely difficult System of Differentil Equations
Many, many thanks :) I will try to use both methods, one using laplace to derive an exact expression for simpler constant B fields and the iterative one for B fields as a function of time. I got my iterative one to work, it can have some really funky motion although the drawback is that it's...- Noone1982

Undergrad Using Cramer's rule to solve linear equations with complex coefficients?
Howdy, I got down Cramer's rule down fine, now I need to extend it to include equations that have complex coefficients. Do I let each matrix entry be something like, "5 + 2i" or is there something more than that? For example, say we have (2+3i)x + (5+3i)y + (9-6i)z = 10 + i (4+3i)x + (5-3i)y...- Noone1982
