Anolok (dark brown) finish to terminate laser beam
Is it ok to use anodized aluminum with anolok (dark brown) finish to terminate laser beams? Most use black anodized aluminum, but can the former be used instead?- omicgavp

Finding components of 2s2p configuration using LS coupling
Homework Statement The lowest excited states of the Be atom correspond to a 2s2p configuration of optically active electrons. What 2s+1Lj components originate in this configuration? Assume that Hund's rules hold for the multiplet and deduce the ordering of the energy levels. Refer to a table...- omicgavp

Graduate Effect of Earth's B field on an e/m experiment
If I solve for the vector sum of B_earth and B_coils, I would obtain a different direction for the total magnetic field which is contrary to that of the supposed circular path of the e- beam, i.e. B_total should be perpendicular to both F_m and v.- omicgavp

Graduate Effect of Earth's B field on an e/m experiment
I am doing an experiment to measure the charge to mass ratio of an electron. And I have found the method suggested by Thompson to account for the effect of the Earth's magnetic field[http://ajp.aapt.org/resource/1/ajpias/v58/i10/p1019_s1?isAuthorized=no" ]. But it only gives the equation, i.e...- omicgavp

Undergrad Nonlinear graph in the Physical Pendulum
We did an experiment using the physical pendulum to measure gravitational acceleration g. A graph is shown in this link: http://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/omicgavp/measuringggraph.jpg" A nonlinear (possibly chaotic) trend can be seen in our graph even though we assumed small-amplitude... -

Falling sphere method to find fluid's viscosity
We used glycerin instead of water so that our reynolds number would be much less than unity. Then corrected the results using the empirical formulas from the handbook; still conforming with the range 0.16</=(radius of sphere/radius of container)</=0.32 [Leblanc, et. al.]. The dynamic viscosity...- omicgavp

Falling sphere method to find fluid's viscosity
The dynamic viscosity we measured has a discrepancy of about 10^-3 from the accepted value. Do we need to increase our number of measurements to obtain an accurate value? Your thoughts about this would be greatly appreciated.- omicgavp

Falling sphere method to find fluid's viscosity
We are performing an experiment to determine the viscosity of water using the falling sphere method. I understand that the ratio of the radius of the sphere to the radius of the container has to be within a certain range in order to avoid a false high viscosity value. And a correction factor is...- omicgavp
